All Around the Circle – The Exhibition

The Long Point Lighthouse Gallery in Crow Head, NL will host a multimedia exhibition by TA Loeffler from September 4 – October 3, 2025. Titled All Around the Circle – Kayaking a Folk Song, the video and photo exhibition follows TA Loeffler and Marian Wissink on their 2024 sea kayaking expedition inspired by the traditional Newfoundland folk song, I’s the B’y. The goal was to paddle “All Around the Circle,” exploring the rugged and picturesque coastline while, at the same time, sharing the rich cultural heritage of this region of Newfoundland and Labrador. Inspired by this beloved folk song, the expedition route went  to Fogo, Twillingate, and Moreton’s Harbour. As TA and Marian passed through these communities, they connected with folks who shared their interpretation of I’s the B’y and its cultural legacy, including a Fogo Island community barbeque and storytelling session. These community visits provided opportunities for cultural exchange, storytelling, and several musical performances inspired by the folk song that guided the route.

Dr. TA Loeffler’s work and adventures have taken her to 52 different countries and all seven continents. TA has completed 6 and 4/5 of “The Seven Summits,” the highest peak on all seven continents.  In 2020, TA was named to the “90 Greatest Canadian Explorers” list by Canadian Geographic. As a Professor of Outdoor Recreation at Memorial University of Newfoundland, TA has developed a reputation for excellence in experiential education because her students are more likely to be outside chasing icebergs than sitting in a classroom. TA inspires hope, possibility, and vision in those whose lives she touches. Over the past 20 years, TA has shared her message of “Big Dreams, Big Goals” with well over 250,000 people in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Using her vast collection of outdoor adventures to create metaphors that provide new ways to see and transform the inevitable obstacles of life, TA’s multimedia presentations inform, inspire, and motivate.

This exhibition is free to the public and will be open from 10am – 4pm daily at the Long Point Lighthouse from September 4- October 3, 2025.

Exhibition proudly sponsored by Broadview House.
