The Art of Intuitive Photography with Mindy Veissid
Award-Winning photographer Mindy Veissid emphasizes an intuitive approach to taking pictures, one where open awareness precedes technical perfection and aims to cultivate photography’s meditative potential. You will practice being more mindful of your surroundings, attuned to the subjects that draw your attention and learn to use your senses to guide you to the most meaningful images. All levels and camera types are welcome.
Unscripted Creative Light Painting with John Elliott
This workshop will allow you to collaborate with others and create light painting images using various light sources. Guidance will be provided to get you started. Various light sources will be available for you to use for your creations. This is a hands-on workshop. Please wear dark clothing if you wish to be invisible in your photos.
Equipment required:
Camera with:
- Manual exposure settings
- Manual focus
- Wide angle lens
- Self-timer (but, more ideally, remote shutter release capability)
Or
- A cell phone with an app that allows control over your camera such as ‘Slow Shutter’ installed
- A support for your camera or phone such as a tripod or clamp

Mike Feehan
Mike Feehan is a St. John’s based illustrator whose work includes the award-winning mini-series Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chroniclesfrom DC Comics, a reimagining of the classic cartoon character, Snagglepuss. In addition to his comic book work, Feehan freelances as a storyboard artist and has worked on a variety of advertisements for internationally recognized brands such as McDonalds, Visa, and Wendy’s. He has also collaborated with IFC and Netflix on social media-based animations and most recently created illustrations for the Pizza Pops “Weird/Good” campaign. Prior to working full-time in illustrations, Mike worked for several years as a graphic artist at Memorial University’s Faculty of Business Administration
Some of Mike’s work will be featured at our Digital Art Gallery and he will be giving a short talk on his work as a Digital Artist.
